Day 1: Old Tbilisi and a sulfur bath

Start at Meidan Square, walk through the cobbled Old Town to the Anchiskhati Basilica (the oldest church in the city), and ride the funicular up to Narikala Fortress for the first view of the city. Walk down through the Botanical Gardens to the Abanotubani sulfur baths. A private room at Bath House No. 5 (Chreli-Abano) costs 80–150 GEL/hour and is one of the city's great experiences.

For dinner, try Khinkali at Pasanauri or a more refined Georgian tasting menu at Shavi Lomi.

Day 2: Modern Tbilisi and food

Spend the morning on Rustaveli Avenue — the National Museum (for the pre-Christian gold treasures), the Opera House, and Vake Park. In the afternoon, head to Fabrika, a converted Soviet textile factory in Marjanishvili that's now Tbilisi's creative hub. Have a long lunch in the courtyard.

Evening: take the cable car up to Mtatsminda Park for sunset, then descend for dinner at one of the wine bars on Erekle II Street.

Day 3: Day trip to Mtskheta or Kazbegi

Option A — easy: half-day in Mtskheta (30 min north), visiting Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari Monastery, with lunch overlooking the river confluence. Back to Tbilisi by mid-afternoon.

Option B — ambitious: full-day private driver to Kazbegi (3 h each way) for Gergeti Trinity Church and views of Mount Kazbek. Long day but unforgettable.

If you choose Mtskheta, use the spare afternoon to walk the Dry Bridge flea market, see the Peace Bridge, or revisit a wine bar.
